Culinary Arts graduates encouraged to promote Rwanda’s culinary heritage.

At Muhabura Integrated Polytechnic College, located in Musanze District, a total of 31 trainees from Kinigi and Nyange sectors have been introduced to the job market after completing a six-month training program in culinary arts. The training was supported by the partner SACOLA, and participants were awarded certificates following short-term practical courses where they learned to prepare a variety of dishes.

Many of the graduates have been encouraged to focus on preparing dishes that promote Rwanda’s cultural identity, enabling them to create their own jobs, secure employment in hotels and restaurants, or start their own businesses.

The Government of Rwanda continues to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key pathway for youth employment. These skills-based programs play an important role in reducing youth unemployment, particularly for those enrolled in short-term courses.

According to data published by Rwanda Polytechnic, 70% of students who completed their studies in 2024 are employed: 59% secured jobs immediately after graduation, 11% continued with further studies, while 18% started their own businesses.
