Stepped towards canonization, June 20, 2025

On June 20, 2025, During the audience granted to His Eminence Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, the Supreme Pontiff authorized the same Dicastery to promulgate the Decrees regarding the miracle that occurred by the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God, the martyrdom of the Servants of God and the heroic virtues of the Servant of God. The Dicastery for the Causes of Saints promulgated the Decrees regarding: 

- the miracle that occurred by the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God Valera Parra, diocesan priest, archpriest and parish priest of Huércal-Overa, born on 27 February 1816 in Huércal-Overa, Spain, and died there on 15 March 1889;

- the martyrdom of the Servants of God Manuel Izquierdo, diocesan priest, and 58 companions of the diocese of Jaén, Spain, killed between 1936 and 1938, in hatred of the faith, in various places in Spain, in the context of the same persecution;

- the martyrdom of the Servants of God Antonio Montañés Chiquero, diocesan priest, and 64 companions of the diocese of Jaén, Spain, killed between 1936 and 1937, in hatred of the faith, in various places in Spain, in the context of the same persecution;

- the martyrdom of the Servants of God Raimond Cayré, diocesan priest, Gerard Martin Cendrier, professed religious of the Order of Friars Minor, Roger Vallée, seminarian, Jean Mestre, lay faithful, and 46 companions, killed between 1944 and 1945 in hatred of the faith, in various places, in the context of the same persecution;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Raffaele Mennella, professed cleric of the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts, born on 22 June 1877 in Torre del Greco, Italy, and died there on 15 September 1898;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God João Luiz Pozzobon, permanent deacon and father, born on 12 December 1904 in the district of Cachoeira, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and died in Santa Maria, Brazil, on 27 June 1985;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Teresa Tambelli (née Maria Olga), professed religious of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, born on 17 January 1884 in Revere, Italy, and died on 23 February 1964 in Cagliari, Italy;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Anna Fulgida Bartolacelli, lay faithful, of the Association of Silent Workers of the Cross, born on 24 February 1928 in Rocca Santa Maria, Italy, and died on 27 July 1993 in Formigine, Italy. (Source: Holy See Press Office)
